If it is a cause or charity that I believe in, I would spend whatever is asked. But, that said, you might do better in quantity if the tickets were a liitle less. For instance, if the tickets are $5, then they will buy one ticket. If they are $2 each, $5 for 3, 10 for 10, you'll get more takers at the higher. The whole point is to get as much as possible. It's what we did at an annual charity I was involved with, you be surprised how many bought $10 worth.
