I purposefully went for a coloured gress, a green/blue shot silk, as I wanted a dress custom made for me but if I was spending money on it I wanted something I would wear again! I have done so, twice, once was a jokey Scout event but the other was a Christmas ball so a bit more respectful! I have fond memories of DH-to-be standing in the silk shop trying to hold all the rolls of silk I kept handing to him, everything from turquoise to pale duck egg ... but the green/blue won!

I had a gorgeous gold thread embrodiered cream silk train and the flowers from that all-over embrodiery were copied around the neck of my gown. The train was then made into a Christening cape for my boys ... to go with the 1840s Christening gown from DH's family, hand drawn Irish lace and like tissue paper.

It's 8 years now ... and I'm hoping for a celebration party for our tenth, and to wear the dress again!
