Check out Ruth McDowells technique for piecing. It uses freezer paper but it is not paper pieced. You would simply trace the pieces onto freezer paper, iron them to the wrong side of the fabric, cut them out using a rotary cutter and ruler to precisely add a 1/4 inch seam allowance and then sew. Mark the pattern at intersections where you have y-seams with ticks and match them up. It should go together smoothly.
