When they're really small I found when the in laws gave so many gifts the kids didn't really appreciate the toys plus a few years later they even forgot who gave the gifts to them. I was finally able to talk some into sending savings bonds instead of gifts. Now that the kids are older they smiled when they saw what their grandparents gave to them. The toys have long since gone away and are forgotten but now when they are going to college, the savings bonds makes it a little easier for them and they're old enough to remember now.
