You let the child pick your name on their own. I raised my grandson from birth and because I was his mom as well My son kept calling me grandma and mom so when my grandson could speak sentences he started calling me ma-maw and it stuck so 3 granddaughters teenagers now And a great grandson and now a new granddaughter whom cant speak sentences yet well I am sure I will be ma-maw forever and its so wonderful.
