My DGD will read on her Kindle ($79) because it's light and small and fits in her purse. But she won't carry around a book. Toddlers and young children need the real thing with lots of colored pictures to be read with someone!
I have noticed over my life that people who do not read for the enjoyment of reading are not the type of people I want to be around for very long. They are so darn boring and usually not as intelligent as they think they are.
