You can flip the mat over and use it. It can be marked with a fine line permanent marker as well. My hubby uses my old mats out in his wood shop for cutting with his razor knifes and etc. He also made a fish cleaning station for a neighbor out of one of the old craft table size mats. He made the table from treated plywood and screwed the mat on so it would be weather tight (with some silicon seal under the edges before he screwed it down. He installed the sink on the right side of the mat so it over lapped that edge.....sometimes we have to think outside the box! hahaha
