It is sew pretty! I think because it has all colours in it, I would choose the colour I want for the room I want to put it in. The second choice would be either black or white so it would go in any room. As for border size, I'd do it the width of the blocks that are in it but only if you need the extra inches. For quilting, Baptist fans sound like a perfect tribute to your Great Granny's quilt. Yes, they will get boring and they will take a long time but unless you have a deadline, I'd go for it.
