Funny, I think they are/were just the opposite...aimed at beginners and very boring to watch for the most part.

Techniques that can be adapted to a wide variety of projects would be great, instead of something that just shows how to make a single project. Many techniques can be used at different skill levels with different results. Kind of a "teach a man to fish" idea.
