I love my Bernina 440QE. I have had it for 3 years now and never plan to part with it. I have never had a bit of problem with it and I use it alot. I also used the BSR to do several quilts the first couple years I had it (until I got my long arm machine). I liked the BSR. I took a class on using the BSR. Classes should be available to you from the Dealer where your mom bought it. Bernina provides classes for the machines they sell. I highly advise thatyou take the classes. I did and they definintely helped me get into the comfort zone with my 440 when I got it. Good luck. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
