I think a quilt should be quilted in one method only. All hand quilted, or all machine quilted.
Doing one or the other would depend on if you decide to sell the quilt.
A hand quilted quilt wil be worth more than a machine quilted quilt.
A hand quilted quilt will require a lot of time, where as a machine quilted quilt can be finished up and sold much sooner.
