Growing up, I used the dining room table to cut out garments; until I cut moms antique table cloth. Bad memory, but dad and mom found me the old cardboard cutting mats. (I know some of you must remember them) Then I got banned to my bedroom and the cardboard on the bed. (would not work now at 53...ouch) I too used a deep freezer for years then when my DD was 4 I went into the sea of indebtedness and purchased a Bernina 1530 sewing machine, a Bernina serger and a cutting table and rehealable mat. The table is over 2 yards long and 1 yard wide and adjustable but I love it and it has gone from move to move with me. However, I am back to a small mat and 8 ft. banquet table while staying with dad in Indy. Miss my sewing room. So find what works for you as you go. Teresa
