Oh, I'm so sorry this happened to you!
We had a toliet overflow in our bedroom once and yes we had insurance.
Insurance was nice but it was extremely disruptive and frankly a lot of work to get the room back to order. The rug was stinky (mold) and had to be replaced. We were up most of one night moving things out of the bedroom. (you know the closet where you throw things and close the door) I'll never forget it.....
I do hope your upstairs neighbor makes some attempt to reimburse you or help you for the mess she caused!
