Thanks for the suggestion, but I decided to go without sashing and join the blocks, which I've done already. I'm looking for the perfect color for the borders and something special for the backing. I am fortunate that the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival is going to be in Hampton, VA (about 10 miles from home) next week, so I'll have a lot of vendors to look at and a lot of fabric to choose from! I'll post pics as soon as I have the borders done.
