I say it depends on what you want the 160 for. I bought one and it is a basic machine with a few decorative stitches--no needle up/down and no thread cutter. It's a little on the heavy side so you probably won't want to take it to classes like you would a featherweight. It makes a nice stitch. I am not bashing Singers--I have 2 Singer Embroidery machines and an L500 that I have had not one ounce of trouble with any of them (contrary to what other's say) and the new 160. I also have 6 vintage Singers. That being said, if your Singer is working fine and unless you want the Singer because of the 160th Anniversary collectaibility, I'd go for the IPad.
