I buy pre-wound bobbins. My MIL introduced me to them. I can just throw the cardboard away when I am done. My machine acts funny when I try to wind the plastic ones and I just wind up frustrated.
Prewounds are great for embroidery, but the tread is 60 weight and to light for machine piecing. The top and bobbin thread should match. (no I am not the quilting police) but you should match the weight of the thread top and bobbin to get your best seam.
