Habits die hard. I grew up wrapping the thread so that's what I still do. No shame about it since it just works better for me.
I've always wrapped my thread around the bobbin about 8 times and have never had a problem once in the 20 years I've been quilting. I didn't even know there was a hole to put your thread through. I'm going to go look at my bobbin and see if it has a hole. My mom taught me to sew and she wrapped the thread. You know you usually do what your mom did and that's what I do.
