I get a lot of my quilting fabric from recycling thrift store items. One of my favorites is bed ruffles. Often the material used to cover the springs is lower quality and not good for much else, but it makes fantastic foundation piecing backing. When I do get a high quality cotton top, then I save that for when I need whites. I don't really care for a lot of white in my quilts, so I am getting quite a collection.
