I just finished a floral log cabin. I didn't really follow a book, followed a friend's instructions instead. I cut all the logs in 2 inch lengths, then cut them off as I assembled the blocks. I sewed them together in the assembly line way like someone else mentioned because I kept getting lost in the order. I did square up each block as it was finished. I thought it turned out really well. I posted a picture on here. The florals were all bright with dark backgrounds and the light was made of different tone on tone whites.
