I know what you mean about them wanting payment up front to see if they can even FIX the problem!! Not from me! Printers aren't as expensive per say then the ink to use with them!
Lois -- I have the Kodak 5300 and it runs out of ink in the color cartridge at the same rate as the black cartridge (and I seldom ever print in color). I usually click on properties, draft, advanced and enter black and white only.
........I bought a single black cartridge but always wind up needing to replace both colors.
Grrr ---- wonder why this is.........
