Deb,

As you have found these machines were made by New Process gear Corp, a division of Chrysler. They have synthetic bushing that the shafts run through. Problems arise when the bushings swell in hot damp weather and cause the machines to seize. Neat machine to look at, but not really reliable. The feet are one of the top clamping style, but not the common ones so are hard to find.
