Calif Yvonne,
I too have never met another Yvonne in person. It must be a very unusual name My mother said she named me after one of the Dionne triplets whom were in the news a lot back then(1936). Do you pronounce your name with the French sound Ev or the English Yv? I pronounce mine with the Ev because my English teacher back in high school told me that was the correct way.My mother disagreed but then she always called me Vonney. I don't know which is correct but I answer to them all.LOL Nice meeting you neighbor and I do enjoy this forum very much.
Ore Yvonne
I always said I was named after Yvonne De Carlo! I thought that was what my mother told me but my older sister says she named me and it was after one of her girl friends. I don't trust my older sister! I think Yvonne De Carlo makes for a much better story.
I used to pronounce my name with the long "e" sound but everyone would misspell my name so I switched to the "Y" sound. Then we met a French couple when we were square dancing. She told me the "Y" pronunciation was wrong and why didn't I pronounce my name correctly? So, I changed back to the long 'e' sound again. You sure do get some very interesting spellings that way!!!
Glad you're having fun here on the forum. I have to be very careful that I don't spend my life here. I try to ration the time I can be on the computer! See you around.
