Calif Yvonne,
I too have never met another Yvonne in person. It must be a very unusual name My mother said she named me after one of the Dionne triplets whom were in the news a lot back then(1936). Do you pronounce your name with the French sound Ev or the English Yv? I pronounce mine with the Ev because my English teacher back in high school told me that was the correct way.My mother disagreed but then she always called me Vonney. I don't know which is correct but I answer to them all.LOL Nice meeting you neighbor and I do enjoy this forum very much.

I used to pronounce my name with the long "e" sound but everyone would misspell my name so I switched to the "Y" sound. Then we met a French couple when we were square dancing. She told me the "Y" pronunciation was wrong and why didn't I pronounce my name correctly? So, I changed back to the long 'e' sound again. You sure do get some very interesting spellings that way!!!
Glad you're having fun here on the forum. I have to be very careful that I don't spend my life here. I try to ration the time I can be on the computer! See you around.

Welcome from Connecticut. Thanks for the interesting discussion on how to pronounce your name, all of you Yvonnes! I've always said and heard ''eee-vahn' - I guess because Yvonne DeCarlo was a movie star when I was growing up, and that's how most people pronounced her name.
