That's exactly the way I did it using those same measurements but I think the blocks were square when the 3 rectangles were sewn together which is impossible which is why I'm trying to find the pattern book again or at least a picture of it. Guess that will teach me that if I like a pattern, buy it even if I don't have plans for it. The only way I can get the block to come out even is to cut one length 9 inches and use 3 below the horizontal 6 inches and all four are cut 3 ". i'm going to try another joann s tomorrow.
