If it were me I'd put a thin baseball fabric sashing vertically on both sides of the black so the baseball fabric would border the t shirt blocks on all sides. Just MHO.
I like this idea of sashing with the balls...I think that is what was bothering me with the black. Great! I am leaning toward black, but will sleep on it and think more tomorrow.
