Default Boston Star Hotpad Class - Will begin Mon Aug 20

Monday Aug 13 I will post the first part of a class on how to make a hot pad my way with my Boston Block shortcut method. It is really easy to do and a beginner can do this!!!

I am going to post this in sections and will post a new section each day til we have the hotpad finished.

I hope to have some conversation along the way and I encourage you to post pics of your progress as we go.

You will need:

Fabric:
Using a 2 1/2" template

2 1/2" x 16" light fabric
2 1/2" x 8 1/2" medium fabric
3 1/2" x 8" dark fabric

Backing - A square cut slightly larger than the size you want your hotpad to be.
Some like to use insulbrite for the backing or in the middle

Here is a discussion about using insulbrite
http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...te-t58746.html

Batting - I use 2 layers of Fairfield Co's tradtional batting. It is dense.
You can use cotton batting or whatever you like.

A template
2 1/2" template will make a 6 1/2" unfinished quilt block
3" template will make a 8" unfinished quilt block
3 1/2" template will make a 9 1/2" unfinished quilt block

You can add borders to make your hot pad the size you would like it to be or you can leave it without any borders. That is up to you.

If you prefer you can use a larger template and make your quilt block into a table topper or wall hanging etc.

I do send out a 1 1/2" and a 2 1/2" templates for free. Just send me your postal address in a PM or email. I will get them out to you.

I do have 3" templates I can send out for free for this class only
but I don't have any plastic grid for them. they would just be clear squares.

You can actually do this in your own timing if you can't join now.
The class will remain online as a tutorial.

Thanks!! Rhonda
