Yes, in our group we tend not to "overquilt" the quilts. Don't understand me wrong, the quilting on most of the quilts I'm looking at on the board is just absolutly awesome, it looks great but we don't have any quilting machines and if we give it away to quilt it just costs a fortune and most of us ladies really want to make the quilts we make "our own" all the way through. I for myself haven't even got a machine with programs for embroidery, fancy stitching, etc. so I mainly do the stitch in the ditch or something easy like that and I haven't had the courage to try free-hand
but probably will get to it step by step one day
.... and I personally feel if there is lots and lots of quilting on a quilt, it tends to get stiffer and probably heavier too. I have won one in a raffle some years ago and this is more quilted than I would do it and this is just the feeling I got about it but I still love the quilt I won
