My Rowenta blew out my power strip , didn't catch fire luckily. i tossed it and the power cord in the trash and went to Target and got a Shark iron. so far, so good.
i never trust auto shut off, not as far as leaving the room. it did shut off but of course, i needed it to stay on while I was sewing and then ironing as I went along. i didn't buy the new one with that option since i hate that.
