One of my useful "tools" that I use often is the June Taylor Shape Cut ... I bought the Shape Cut Plus, which allows you to cut in 1/4" increments if you are very clever and haven't lost the directions <g> but, the greatest part of the Shape Cut Plus is that it is 18" wide ... versus the twelve inches in the Shape Cut ...
I'm late getting to this thread...hee hee hee...it's kind of one of those 'confessional' types...
suggestion: I have this transparent, um, 'tape', I'll call it. It sticks to your rulers and is 1/4" wide.
I can't use my rulers that have the 1/2" extra added without using this, bc...well, bc I would screw things up!
So, if you take two strips of this transparent stuff, and put on the 1/2", it lets you know at a glance, where to stop, for 12" or whatever your ruler width is.
I know why they put the extra on there, but it would help if they used black markings for the 12" and then use, say blue, for the extra 1/2".

Now, about confessions: I do use most of my rulers, haven't gotten to a few of the diamond, etc. smaller ones...not avoiding them, just haven't had time!
Something I am guilty of doing, is buying things with books, that I don't have time for, yet, and saying, "when I get caught up, I am going to study that, and make...." :oops:
I just don't have the knack for doing one thing at a time! In my own defense, I have accepted that I never will either :lol:
Edit: OOPS! Forgot to say this transparent stuff is colored! VERY important to know, or it sounds like I am saying its just clear. It works fantastically. Sometimes I just put a tiny piece of transparent tape on the end to keep them from coming up with usage. Try it, you'll like it.
I think I bought this in Joann's. Comes in a pkg. of three rolls, 1/4" wide: yellow, lime and orange.
