I usually send a card, but there have been times when I've found about someone's passing several weeks after the fact. Usually these online books stay open for a year, so I'll use it then.
It is never too late to send a card . Or use the online but the ones I have seen shut down at 30 days. Then you would need to go directly to the funeral home website to post.
I recently found out about a former co-worker passing last July. I heard about it thru another co-worker. I posted my condolence on the funeral home obituary website. I had not seen this nice lady for over a decade but she was a wonderful, hardworking and conscientious employee. I wanted her family to know that others loved their mother too !
