Had something similar happen to me recently. I follow a blog called Ivory Spring and Wendy had posted about a quilt she'd designed for Fons & Porter mag. with the Googlies alphabet panel. I fell in love with it and thot, heck, I'll buy the panel now and maybe do something different with it later. Had a heck of a time finding it and finally did at a small online quilt shop. Wendy had said to hurry to find it as F&P said all their kits were sold. When I said I couldn't figure out why the mags would publish patterns with fabric you couldn't find any longer, the woman said that the magazines (esp. Fons&Porter) will do this, put kits together with fabric that's often out of stock generally so people have to buy the kits to get it. Usually the kits are way out of my $ range so it gets frustrating.
