Automatic on the Pfaff 2100 series just leaves too little bobbin thread to grab. Even when embroidering. I've turned off automatic and will only use the cutter if I can't get to the thread easily. These Pfaffs have the vertical bobbin. The newer Pfaffs with the drop in bobbin seem to do much better.
