well for me they are sooo nice to sew on. they do a very good straight stitch!! They are also light weight enough to use as a traveling machine. hence the name featherweight (12ish pounds). that way 1) i don't have to brakedown my main machine and 2) the weight. I also love the Janome 760. it is also lightweight and has a few more stitches.
