I have the Reliable D100. While it does have auto shut off, you can override it. I used the override once, then turned off the power strip.
I like auto shut off, but not always the way appliances do. I use timers. Everything from purchased to adapted hot tub with uses time increments.

If you know you have 2 or 3 hours to devote to piecework, then the iron should give you that time. If you are only working on something in spare time - like waiting for a load of laundry, etc, then a 10 minute shutoff isn't bad.
