Back to basenjis and years ago:
I had a couple of pet basenjis, and started to get into showing and breeding, for which I needed a kennel name. I'm a big flower gardener, basenjis have winkled brows, the word is used to described 'wrinkled' so my first show basenji was Rosa Rugosa (wrinkled leaves on a rose), call name Rosa. My second girl was Rugosa Rubra (red wrinkles, wrinkled leaves on a red rose) Wild, yet look appropriate in the proper garden. Hence, Rugosa!
I can't get the Rugosa out of my brain, so now all quilt labels contain 'made by Rugosa creations!
Wrinkled quilts?
I have a couple of Rugosa roses in my garden, and like you said, they are tough.
These are a couple of quilts I donated as prizes at our national a few years
Oh Wow! Your two basenji and bunny quilts are Fantastic!!! The last one especially cracks me up! I bet those two quilts made the competitors at Nationals try especially hard to win them!
Is it true that basenjis make a sort of purring noise and yodel instead of barking? It is wonderful that you have these dogs in your life!
how you came to using the name Rugosa is really neat. Ever since I first saw the wild rugosas blooming along the coastline in Maine, I've always included rugosa roses and hybrids in our gardens. we are organic gardeners and they resist diseases so well.
What you have been able to do is quite thrilling! Keep up the good works!
