I treat batiks like any other quilting cotton. If the color/value/scale fit in with the rest of the fabrics then it goes in the quilt. I don't mix denim, linen, polyester, etc. with quilting cotton - but then again I don't have any of those fabrics.
I just put some linen with some batiks and quilting cotton. Very pretty. I had a very small piece of pink roses on white linen and wanted to make a rose colored rag blanket. So theres a WOF strip of pink QC, green batik, pink QC, white linen, another p/g/p set, more linen, and one more p/g/p set. Very pretty. The back of each WOF strip is lighter weight light green
