There are generics but the high prices for their feet reflect the fact that you still see Bernina feet that are 40 and 50 years old and functioning like new. You can buy cheaper, less well made feet that 'work' but you will have a quality difference and they typically don't last nearly as long or function nearly as well. It's up to you.
