Thank you all for the help and suggestions. I will definitely get a splash guard and look at the other attachments.
I did some rearranging in the kitchen to accommodate this machine. I took all my cookbooks from the top of the fridge. And put them on the bookcase that runs the length of the hallway. And this will be the new home for the mixer, complete with a new quilted cover.
