KLO, the process is easy, just time consuming. I ripped them apart. Then used Woolite and a bucket. I washed "sets of ties" three times each. Ties absorb sweat and I was surprised that I knew who wore which tie due to the smell. Some smelled like Dad some like my Granddad. The washing machine just didn't work for me, I always ended up with a huge tangled mess and tossed it away. I found a pattern on the Moda website for jelly rolls by SewCraftyJess. It worked perfect.
