You can always make the rings a solid piece of fabric instead of many small pieces. Another way: I remember a long time ago on Simply Quilts a DWR was made by cutting the arcs out of a strip-pieced strip of fabric. That's a lot faster than sewing together individual pieces. The shapes of the individual pieces in the resultant arcs is a bit different than if they were individually cut (because the sides aren't "cut" the same way when they come from the strip-pieced strip of fabric), but it's not noticeable in the final quilt.
