When I use flannel or fleece in a quilt, I like to tie them. It is so much easier to tie them, and they are more cuddly to me when I do.
To tie them my grandma taught me to pick the spot to stitch, insert the needle to take a stitch, (down, then up about an eight inch away, then down the same place and up in the same place, then tie a 'surgeons knot')

"Surgeons knot" explained- right over left and through, through again, tighten, left over right and through again, and again, and tightened. Surgeon's knot made.
