Well, if Red is referring to the bolt that attaches the wooden handle to the crank then mine is a smooth bolt like thing with a rounded head. It's fitted through the crank and peened over.

Mine was loose so I repeened it tighter. But if I had to use a bolt I'd put a nut with lock washer on the handle side and the same on the back side to chinch it up tight. Maybe a bit of LocTite as well.
Most hdwr stores have long bolts with smooth shanks. I'd try one of those if I could get it long enough.
