I'm a retired teacher and know that all of the above would be appreciated. I also used to love it when moms or grandmas made holiday accessories for the kitchen (the neat towels that hang on a know for wiping hands or just for decoration), hot pads, etc. One more child was mortified when I opened his gift and it was beautiful kitchen towels. My son would not carry his teacher's gift to school because I had bought a new coffee mug. So perhaps check with the child before.
Those cute fabric boxes that are all the rage on the QB lately would be great for holding note paper, etc.
