Default teacher gifts

I'd like to make something for my grandchildren's teachers for Christmas. What have you made/given to teachers that they seemed to like?

when my son was in kindergarden, he made her a special pointer. it was a 1/2" dowel, that he painted to look like a pencil with her name on it where it would say Ticonderoga. she loved it. that year, I made her a door sign that was quilted with her name on it. I guess ask teachers

I am a retired teacher. I vote for a tote bag. A teacher never has enough tote bags. At least I didn't. I was always carrying stuff to and from school...or to a workshop. My favorite gift was a tote bag made with cat fabric. I used it forever!

Another retired teacher weighing in with tote bags or desk topper that can hold tissues, hand sanitizer and spare pencils. Helps with the decorating a bit.

looks like it's going to be tote bags - thanks so much for the input from the teachers.

I'm a retired teacher and know that all of the above would be appreciated. I also used to love it when moms or grandmas made holiday accessories for the kitchen (the neat towels that hang on a know for wiping hands or just for decoration), hot pads, etc. One more child was mortified when I opened his gift and it was beautiful kitchen towels. My son would not carry his teacher's gift to school because I had bought a new coffee mug. So perhaps check with the child before. Those cute fabric boxes that are all the rage on the QB lately would be great for holding note paper, etc.

Anything other than a mug, ditto for scented things. Tote bags are good, as are mug rugs, or even a small $ gift card to a book store.
