We used to have a bassett hound and that was a problem because we had so many rabbits and bunnies. She thought she was supposed to catch and bring them all to us. However, our community has became overrun with ferral cats and not only do we rarely see a rabbit, we have few birds. We had been rural, but then there was a building boom and two communities of new homes were put in on either side of us. The first one went in during the original boom and as people were realizing they could not afford what they had, they abandoned the homes and the pets. We used to have wild turkeys, sandhill cranes and many wading birds.
