Default Marshmallow disaster

I got a recipe for homemade marshmallows off the Electric Quilt site. I had all the ingredients on hand so I thought I'd try it.

The sugar/corn syrup/water mixture is cooked to a soft ball. Soften gelatin is added and then that is poured into beaten egg whites. All was going well until the stuff started expanding and climbing up the beaters. It climbed all the way over them and through the holes at the bottom of my big stand mixer. I could only beat them half as long as I should because the stuff got in the motor of the mixer.

I've taken the mixer apart, but I don't know if I can ever get that sticky stuff out.

In other news, my four black Labs have marshmallow fluff all over their faces. I got it everywhere in the kitchen and had to call the boys in from the yard to help me clean up.
