I have a Singer and too and purchased the wsalking foot for my machine. I also had a problem with short stitches I purchased a generic foot at Overstock.com for $27 and received it last week. It is the best walking foot I ever had and, to my surprise, it came with a free motion foot (which I wasn't expecting). My DH told me I should order another if it worked that well, so I did.
