Actually it looks like a very nice tool, for someone who has trouble cutting accurately and who doesn't want to purchase the more expensive cutting systems. However, if you're doing fine with what you have, and can exchange it for something you would rather have without hurting the feelings of your son and DIL, then that's what I would do.
