We have all electric heat so this past summer, my DH had a small propane heater put in our family room. It can heat our family room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. We close off the rest of the house if we have a power outage. The propane tank holds 100 gal/pounds? and we only use it when necessary and it is very inexpensive. It's a great alternative for us. Also, my DS was just telling use yesterday about the clay pot heater he read about on the web! Small world! ))
