Hi Susie, at the risk of becoming unpopular, I have to say this: It's not a fiddlehead or a fiddle head. The head is the part that is
not shaped like a fiddle, the base is the part that is.
Your picture is that of a fiddle base sewing machine. Model 12 by the look of it.
The decals might not be worn off, incidentally. I have a Tiffany 27 (1901) that came to me looking a lot like this one. After quite a lot of cleaning with SM oil, the decals revealed themselves and she looked lovelier than she probably has in more than half a century. My fingers are crossed that yours may be the same and there's a pretty picture hiding behind some worn-on grime.
